URBAN DESIGN

FOXHOLES CARE VILLAGE, HITCHIN, HERTS

Place-Make have been appointed as urban designers to prepare a feasibility study for an exciting new care village at the edge of Hitchin.

Based around the core of the existing care home, the Client’s vision is for a more holistic offering that would be underpinned by greater integration with the wider natural context, a variety of activities and a strong sense of community.

The model would be relatively new to the UK and builds upon pioneering projects that are operating successfully in the Netherlands, Scandinavia and Ireland and the ethos of the Maggie’s Centres across the UK.

For this study, we will be working alongside EHW Architects and the care team at Foxholes.
